Color and Values in Annecy — the Venice of the Alps
Learning to make one’s own Travel-Report Sketchbook; mastering Color and values: two goals for these three days, that will be the occasion to bring back a complete sketchbook and develop many creative ideas.
Three days to sketch the city of Annecy, fill up a sketchbook, and play with color.
Along the lake, under the arcades in the old town, or facing the mountains, you will learn how to combine drawing with watercolor, color pencils and pastel, while enjoying the lake and the Annecy lifestyle.
We will study different ways of using color and its intensity (values), in several parts of the city.
An occasion to progress on the technical aspect, but also to bring back a complete sketchbook on one specific destination, worked on during several days.
3-day course (available in French and English), in a group of 4 to 8 participants.
(Participants are in charge of their accommodation and transportation to Annecy (car / train / airplane). Annecy is 4 hours away from Paris by TGV train; one hour driving from Geneva. If you have a car, think of the neighboring villages for accommodation.
NB: a student has an apartment in Old Town Annecy, for which she offers a special price to the students who would like to stay there: 1 bedroom with two single beds; 1 bedroom with a double bed. Contact me if you need information).
Each day counts six hours of teaching.
We draw from 9:30AM to 12:30PM, and 1:30PM to 4:30PM: we make a break for lunch; from 4:30PM on, you may keep drawing, visit, go shopping, have dinner at a restaurant…
The first day, we end our drawing day with a cafe/cold drink together at a cafe in Annecy’s old town.
At the end of the workshop, you can choose to stay in Annecy, Geneva, La Clusaz, Chamonix, Lyon… for a few more days, or go back.
The teaching focuses on both quality of drawing, and creative layout of the sketchbook. Annecy will inspire you with a sketchbook that is innovative, personal, and full of light!
The workshop is open to everyone, it is not necessary to know how to draw already. Experience shows that even someone who has never held a pen before gets, through a workshop, to surprise oneself and to produce unexpected pages.
And that those who already have a regular practice of drawing find new possibilities.
The goal is to progress, to sharpen one’s eye, to explore one’s creativity, and to have fun! And to live a unique travel experience, in a city full of art and inspiration.
You will get the opportunity, through this workshop, to test and improve the useful techniques for travel sketchbooking, to discover the hidden facets to your eye, to come back home with a full sketchbook, and with a renewed and freshened eye.
And to enjoy Annecy’s lifestyle, its markets, beaches, historical streets, and various sports activities!
