Autour du Yunnan

Located “South of the clouds”, as the Chinese say, Yunnan is a land of crossings: crossings of geological plates, of civilizations, of various ethnic groups, of climates, of commercial roads, of travelers…
From this area where I was living, I travelled by land towards the North on the plateaus that mark the beginnings of Western China, towards South in South-east Asia, and across Yunnan, this province as big as France and as varied as Europe.

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Clermont-Ferrand Travel Sketchbook Biennal (Nov. 13th-15th, 2009), Reflets d’ailleurs Publishers published a set of three sketchbooks from those trips, with texts and drawings.
