Sketchbook in Perspective — The Art of Playing with the City
A playful approach to perspective!
Four days to sketch the Portuguese capital, fill up a sketchbook, and juggle with the mecanisms of perspective! Lisbon is perfect for that, with its hills, its passages, its successions of ways from where one catches a glimpse of the sea or a sunny square. Not to forget its stairways…
We will approach the different aspects of perspective, though various areas of the city.
An occasion to progress on that technical subject, but also to bring back a complete sketchbook on one specific destination, worked on during several days.
4 days course, 19 hours of teaching (available in both French and English), in a group of 4 to 8 students.
(Participants are in charge of their accommodation and plane tickets. Note that it is easy to rent an apartment. Any central district of Lisbon will be convenient: it is easy to walk the city center. – Contact me if you need information).
The first day counts four hours of teaching, followed by a drink together.
The two following days, we draw from 9:30AM to 12:30PM, and from 2:00PM to 5:00PM: those who wish it can have lunch with the group; from 5:00PM on, one is free to keep drawing, visit a museum, go shopping, listen to a fado concert, have dinner at a restaurant…
The last day, we draw from 9:30AM to 12:30PM. Then participants are free to stay in Lisbon for a few days if they like, or to go back home.
The teaching focuses on both quality of drawing, and creative layout of the sketchbook. Lisbon offers many possibilities to compose a sketchbook that is innovative, personal, and full of charm!
The workshop is open to everyone, it is not necessary to know how to draw already. Experience shows that even someone who has never held a pen before gets, through a workshop, to surprise oneself and to produce unexpected pages.
And that those who already have a regular practice of drawing find new possibilities.
The goal is to progress, to sharpen one’s eye, to explore one’s creativity, and to have fun! And to live a unique travel experience, in a city full of art and inspiration.
You will get the opportunity, through this workshop, to test and improve the useful techniques for travel sketchbooking, to discover the hidden facets to your eye, to come back home with a full sketchbook, and with a renewed and freshened eye.
And to enjoy Lisbon, its various architectures, walks, museums, and cafes, in front of the ocean…
